I deeply regret having treatment here. After excellent HIFU results on my face with a different provider, I booked for my upper arms, attracted by the low price. The session in September was very uncomfortable and I wasn't offered any numbing cream. Since then I've had persistent pain and weakness in my forearms that has affected my daily life - simple tasks like driving a short distance, hoovering or ironing are exhausting. From my own research, nerve irritation seems a likely cause. I was contacted by two members of staff and offered a further treatment to help. I had an appointment booked well in advance but when I arrived after an 80-mile round trip, the premises was shut and no one was there for nearly half an hour. I've since been offered a credit note, but given the circumstances I feel a refund and reimbursement for travel expenses is entirely reasonable. Neither has been forthcoming. I am still dealing with these distressing side effects.

For anyone thinking of booking, here is my honest account. The booking process via WhatsApp was quick and simple. However, the premises were noticeably run-down compared to the previous clinic location. There was no answer on the intercom when I arrived. The practitioner arrived just before opening time without acknowledging she was late, despite my appointment requesting 15 minutes early check-in. The treatment room was cramped. During the initial consultation the practitioner was texting on her phone, which I found very unprofessional. I felt pressured into paying an additional £30 for a booster and the whole consultation felt rushed with no eye contact or genuine welcome. No post-treatment advice was given, unlike my previous visits to Vivo. For a micro-needling session at £129 I expected a far higher standard of service. A real disappointment compared to previous experiences.

A very poor experience. I booked and paid for a HIFU facial treatment that lasted only 20 minutes. Within a few hours I developed a severe migraine that lasted three days - far beyond the mild headache sometimes mentioned as a possible side effect. How does warts and skin tags removal work?

Your doctor first examines the growth to confirm what it is and selects the most suitable removal method. Cryotherapy freezes the lesion with liquid nitrogen so it gradually falls away; laser targets the affected tissue precisely without harming surrounding skin; electrosurgery uses a controlled electrical current to remove the growth with minimal bleeding; and minor surgical excision removes larger lesions under local anaesthetic. The whole process is quick and carried out in a sterile clinical setting.

What is the difference between a wart and a skin tag?

Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), can be contagious, and tend to feel rough or raised - they may appear flat or knobbly and can sometimes be uncomfortable, particularly on the soles of the feet. Skin tags are soft, smooth, skin-coloured flaps that develop in areas of friction such as the neck, underarms, eyelids and groin. Skin tags are not contagious. During your consultation we confirm which you have and recommend the best approach.

Why should I have warts or skin tags removed?

Although usually harmless, these growths can rub against clothing or jewellery, catch during shaving or grooming, and cause discomfort. Warts also carry a risk of spreading to other areas or other people. Many clients simply prefer the smoother, clearer appearance that removal gives. Whatever your reason, our doctors can safely clear unwanted lesions in a single, straightforward visit.

Am I a good candidate for this treatment?

Most people with benign warts or skin tags are suitable candidates. The treatment is appropriate for growths in a wide range of locations, including delicate areas such as the face and eyelids, where laser is often ideal. At your consultation our doctor examines each lesion to confirm it is harmless and to rule out anything that needs further investigation before recommending the right removal method for you.

How many sessions will I need?

Many warts and skin tags are cleared in a single session. The exact number depends on the method used and the size, number and stubbornness of the growths - some resistant warts may need a short course of treatments spaced a few weeks apart. We will give you a clear plan once your specialist has assessed your skin.

Is the procedure painful?

The treatment is generally painless. Local anaesthetic is applied beforehand to keep you comfortable throughout, so most clients feel little more than mild pressure or a brief cooling or warming sensation depending on the technique used.

Is there any downtime or aftercare?

There is essentially no downtime, and you can return to your normal routine straight away. The treated area may form a small scab or appear slightly red as it heals, settling over a few days to a couple of weeks. We will give you simple aftercare advice - such as keeping the area clean, avoiding picking and using sun protection - to support smooth, even healing.

How long do the results last, and can they come back?

Once a wart or skin tag has been properly removed, that lesion is gone for good. However, because warts are caused by a virus and skin tags by friction, new growths can occasionally appear elsewhere if the underlying factors persist. Treating lesions early and following our aftercare guidance helps keep your skin clear.
